The Beginning

SLEEPHI (currently rebranding to SLEEPHIX – long story) was founded on one basic premise – to help you sleep better. Bedding products haven’t seen innovation for decades and it was time the industry needed a change.

My roots lie in a long-lasting textile business tradition in Germany. Since 1885 my family has been actively involved in the textile industry in Europe. However, my recent journey starts closer to home. After working long hours in the banking and consulting industry, and later on at software startup in Boston helping Amazon sellers strive; I quickly realized the importance of sleep and started collecting information on scientific studies relating to sleep quality. Although I enjoyed the life in Boston I felt the need for good sleep. Boston has all 4 seasons and in an ideal situation one would own 2-3 different comforters. At least one for summer and one for winter. However, my small apartment in Fenway didn’t really have the space to store spare comforters.

I was consulting Amazon Sellers while working at Teikametrics, helping them optimize product listings, manage inventory, promote products with paid advertisements, launching new items and more. Simply put I was given a great opportunity to learn the in and outs of selling on Amazon and will always be grateful for have been given the opportunity by my former employee. I wouldn’t be running my own business without having worked at the company.

I started the company for two reasons. One, to provide a bedding product to reduce excess heat, which I identified as main contributor to light sleep and two, to learn more about issues and concerns Amazon sellers are facing on a daily basis. I saw that it was possible to run a business on one good product on Amazon and wanted to give it a try on the side. My daily customers would benefit from my experience.
